Finally a girl!

January 29

Her name is Bubbles - courtesy of a friend in New York State . I also have a poem from a friend in Spain but I need to get her permission to reprint it here. She is definitely a Bubbles - wonderful healthy and feisty little gal.
Aliya Gives Me A Name:
Yes, my name is Bubble's, it was Aliya's great choice, I love to skip and to play, and stay out of trouble's. And in the heart of Texas, small miracles happen, baby kid goats are being born, whilst the weather is frightening. My soft coat is warm, and my silky ears are long, perhaps when Aliya see's me here, she will sing me a song! Best friends, yeah, that's Aliya and Bubble's, you'll see our friendship a'growing, and lots of photo's of me. Keep your camera charged up, dear, sweet Linda Sue, I'm smiling and happy, and my friend Aliya is too!

My trusty Spanish/boer mix doe Pearl did a great job yesterday giving birth, cleaning up her babies and now being very protective of her twins in the midst of a crowded pen. The baby with a white "saddle" is a little fella - currently called BuckG(just using letters for the time being). The lovely little gal is our first female of this year's batch of kids. She is quite active and figuring out the rules of the goat pen as she goes. I wanted to get some pictures of her so a friend could name her - but having Pearl's girl still long enough to photograph proved a challenge! I don't like to post blurry pictures but I had a half dozen or more completely blurry ones.

Looks like she is thinking about trying to eat - but no teeth just yet. For now she is getting plenty of nutrition from her mama. It is sweet on Buhlaland to have healthy kids -

Baby goats are so cute. I sure would like one, we had goats when I was little.

I'm with Anna, I sure would like one. But Dirt says never again on dairy. Like he is some big party guy. But I guess it is easier to head home in the evening when you think its because you want to, not cuz ya gotta go milk. He cracks me up sometimes. Your babies are sweet and I'm awkwardly hugging my computer again.

Hugs and kisses you have found a w for me thankyou!

I know they don't have to be dairy and I have toyed with getting boer goats, but I loved milking goats and having the babies on bottles. Leaning up against a warm goat, finding a rhythm to the milking it was all part of the love fest.
And now my life is way less busy (no huge 4-H involvement and human babies) than when we had goats, so it would be greatly tempting to turn what ever I had into a milker. I'm afraid I would try to milk a Pygmy!

Ohhhhhh, precious, cute, adorable, how many words can I use to express the sweet little baby goats ? Congratulations on your little cuties!

Oh, and LindaSue, Lanny is right. She does not do things half-way! If she got one goat, pretty soon it WOULD be a dairy! Then Dirt would be heading home at night to milk!

I know a place in North Texas where you could get your pick of beautiful little bucks! I now have 8 bucks and the one little doe. Had a buck very early this morning and the mother rejected him - he is big and healthy so I've penned her and her mother in with him hoping she'll get tired and let him nurse. (have already given him a little colostrum to keep him strong - it was 26 degrees this morning!) I do love them - coyotes can be a hazard to goats especially in your area but maybe you could resuce a BIG dog for a goat herder!
