Something iconic about windmills and oak trees in our part of Texas - this view is from out back fence into land now owned by the county but used to be part of a small cattle operation.
Been missing my family a lot lately - perhaps it is part of growing older and so many are already gone ahead of me. Happy Mother's Day to you who were blessed with children and those of us who were not - Happy Mother's Day to you because we all mother something or someone.
Sweet old hymn in my mind and didn't find a good youtube video of it - but here are the lyrics - it is good on Buhlaland to enjoy the beauty and remember we are only strangers passing through on our journey Home.
There's a land that is fairer than day,
And by faith we can see it afar;
For the Father waits over the way
To prepare us a dwelling place there.
Refrain:
In the sweet in the sweet
By and by by and by,
We shall meet on that beautiful shore;
In the sweet in the sweet
By and by by and by
We shall meet on that beautiful shore.
We shall sing on that beautiful shore
The melodious songs of the blest,
And our spirits shall sorrow no more
Not a sigh for the blessing of rest.
Refrain:
To our bountiful father above
We will offer our tribute of praise;
For the glorious gift of His love
And the blessings that hallow our days.

Linda Sue, the pictures are so, so beautiful! They do bring to mind the dear hymn you posted. The pictures are almost other-worldly~ I would frame these and hang them in my home. What a wonderful way to start the day, and right there on your own homestead!
The sentiments you expressed are so sweet and so true.
Beautiful photos and words. That song is certainly an old hymn. I remember singing it as a child and we sing it in the old church we attend now.
Have a good week!
Debbie
Love, love, love these photos!

I am oft homesick.
Beautiful pictures, and beautiful old hymn- one of my favorites. I feel like you do too, Linda Sue- been missing some of my friends and loved ones alot lately... hugs to you and hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day.
Thanks for posting the hymn "Sweet By and By." Today is the 174th anniversary of the birth of the author, Sanford Bennett. You mention looking for a good video. Not much to look at in the following one, and it's simply a congregational rendering of the song, but well done, and I found it a blessing.
