Be the Best

If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lives a great street sweeper who did his job well.
Dr. Martin Luther King. December 1956

I read this quotation in a book by Randy Alcorn Safely Home about the persecuted church in China. Love the spirit of King's words - the reality that in doing whatever work is ours to perform be done in a wholehearted and joyful manner brings honor to our labors.

BTW I highly recommend Randy's book and I have a renewed pride in my parttime job doing laundry for our acupuncturist - every job is necessary.

Have a beautiful SonDay - meet a friend or make a new one - we love our friends on Buhlaland and thank God for useful work and the beauty of His created world.

You are the second blog friend to recommend Randy's book - thanks. Hope you have a good day. My kitties would love this photo today. They love chasing these things!

Hey Linda Sue - hope things are going well for you and Mr. Skip - I really enjoyed your froggie pics - we have those little green ones stick all over our house, too. One of 'em got inside the door frame and got squashed last summer. After a week or two in the summer it was stinkin' to high heaven, and we couldn't figure out what it was for another week. Boy, it was getting RIPE! So watch your door frames for froggies! Have a great week, friend!

I am so convinced some of our very most effective missionaries for Jesus are often the un-noticed people around us. The janitor, laundress, waitress, little old and infirm gentleman we know. Maybe the checker at our favorite grocery store, maybe you~

The people who have spoken volumes to me without actually speaking are those who are thankful and content in Him for all in their lives and actually ACT on it, and prase Him in all things.Well said Linda Sue, thank-you.

That quote is so true! I may have to pick up a copy of the book for myself, Linda Sue... thanks for the heads-up!
