Thank you Lord, Thank you prayer friends

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (New Living Translation)
9 Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 10 If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. 11 Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? 12 A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken

Thank you all for being part of my triple braided cord!
Got the results letter from Solis Women's Health (doesn't that sound exotic?) "No evidence of breast cancer or other significant abnormality". WOO HOOOO! Means the lump is likely a fatty cyst lump - yeah and hooray. I thank all of you praying for me, the comfort of your prayers made a difference in my sense of calm over this issue.

On to other things

-Conan the Destroyer has had a rough time since the death of Corey -we joked she was his seeing life dog. Anything happening in our household - Conan would look to Corey first for how to react. Now he perks up for short periods (walk to the mailbox - yes yes yes, ride in truck - lemme up there) but seems at a loss about what he is supposed to be doing all day. Our BFFs arranged a playdate for their 4 month old Bassett named Buddy and our Conan. Conan was happy to have another dog around. Being somewhat small, Coney felt it important to establish his place in the pack. Yep - our little cowardly Conan is biting Buddy's big flappy lip. Buddy yelped a little but the two sniffed, growled and postured for a good long playdate. Come back any time Buddy!

The come back any time invitation was not echoed by Moe the Barn Cat - he was appalled and chose to stay in the oak tree until Buddy, his human and their vehicle were out the gates and on the highway. Then our lovely cat came down from the tree, stalking off with his tail still quite fluffed out, we think he was muttering something about indignity of it all.

I need to get dressed in outdoor, messy clothes - going to be in the 80's today and DH got holes drilled in my containers so need to cover the holes with some shade cloth (just to keep the soil from leaking out) and put rocks in the bottom of each. Definitely time to get seeds in containers - my seedlings in the house are only doing So So -

The PakChoy are getting their first real leaves (not just the little tiny first leaves coming from a seed) and the tomato starts are also almost ready for real leaves. I may have to share some plant starts, I have a suspicion I over estimated what can go in my intensive garden system . BUT - seeds are cheaper than plants so will keep on starting stuff - I have enough seed left from last garden to start the squash and mesclun salad. I do love gardening - remind me of that statement when it is 105 degrees this summer and I have to water twice a day!

I have an ad from the local free newspaper, chicks are in at the feed store - now I need to find out whether we are serious about doing this chicken coop thing. DH might not be so inclined today - he is working hard putting our business sign up by the front gates. But que sera sera- I'm headed outside!

Update - I have never done the "give up something for Lent" thing , I was raised in a Southern fundamentalist household and generally haven't had emphasis on the Lenten season as a big part of my faith walk. While reading scripture and blogs - I think it is more than reasonable to make a sacrifice (admittedly very small but more significant to an obsessed eater like me than you realize). So I'm giving up candy - not refilling our "sugar fix" drawer in the kitchen. I think it is a good choice for two reasons - I believe it is something I will carry through to completion (not a huge thing like give up coffee and in a week be so miserably nasty I fail and hate myself for failure but this sentence is WAY TMI). Second reason - DH and I both need to regain control of our diets and health - taking care of the body given to us is honoring our Creator. OK I just wanted to make this official by putting it in writing - that whole accountability thing.

I'm thankful for your good news, Linda!!! SAme thing happened to my sister, and after an MRI she called me yesterday to give me her good news! Same fatty cyst thingie. God is SO GOOD!

Wish I could start my garden with seeds. I don't have a greenhouse to keep them. Guess I could put them inside the house, huh?

I've really been talking up the whole chicken thing so that when we actually DO move out to the farm, it won't be such a shock to dear hubby when I throw that at him. Giving him some time to get used to the idea...

being from a strictly Protestant background, i had never practiced Lent until about 7 years ago. i decided to look at it purely non-denominationally and see what God would have me do with it. i so love the week before Easter because it is solemn and prepares me for the joy and amazing-ness of the Resurrection... so, to add the 40 days prior was very natural. it is a time of examining and preparing my heart for what is to come with Good Friday and Easter, and i usually participate each year. some years, however, for me it is about 'what will i take on?' instead of what i will give up--the point being, what is it that would enhance/deepen my relationship with the Lord to either give up or take on.

i pray your time of preparation for the Lord will be a deep and meaningful experience!

Dear Sand Flat Farms - how interesting we'd have the same thing! I'm SO grateful not to have a bad report. I'm starting seeds indoors - makes a mess for a while but worth it so I can pick the varieties I want to grow. no word on the chicken thing yet - I'm NOT nagging!
Sharilyn - thank you for your input - DH and I talked about this decision (after I'd made it - NOT a very good wife thing but we'll skip over that right now) and he is very happy with the idea. We do normally have candy around the house and both indulge in it too much - so it really is giving up something. I think your idea of taking ON something is excellent - I'm taking on - trying to take OFF some excess weight causing health issues. Thanks both of you for thoughtful comments!Wouldn't you know it - my word verifications is "mealls" - yeah I need to eat more NOT

Oh yay!!! Good news is so wonderful , especially for you! And Conan and the puppy are so cute.

Now let's talk about the weather, it is SNOWING here and you're having 80 degree days ? And you're planting seedlings without a greenhouse? We don't get 80 degree days around here til July, and most of us in the Pacific Northwest don't do well when the temps get that high...we melt you know. Or get real cranky. But a bit of sunshine would be nice right now.

Doesn't the good news just make you rejoice in all the days you get to plant and harvest and watch your critter's antics..and not have the shadow of lurking fear ?

I'm so pleased to hear your good news. What a relief that must have been seeing those words.

I am glad Conan has the opporutuntiy to get his dogginess fix, can't imagine being a monospecie animal in a fam, I think sometimes the only one that can handle it is a cat.

Hey, thanks for trying the Lent thing. Do everything as if you are doing it for the Lord! As much as I am into things like Lent for the spiritual discipline they bring me I am ever so glad that my eternal life doesn't depend on if I am perfect at it. Amen?

Hey KathyB and Lanny - yes I'm still a little giggly about the good news on my mammary gramming. Glad to join the boat Lanny - DH and I neither had done the Lenten sacrifice before. It actually is noticeable to us both - no candy dishes or jars or stash anywhere in the house (it was HARD to throw away Dove chocolates - but it is done). Grateful for the Lord's continual blessing - amazed by grace!

I too am thankful....and have unconsciously given up soda, I love Coke and Pepsi...didn't even think about Lent as we didn't grow up either with that teaching but the Lord seemed to telling me to do it...

Oh, I wanted to say I think your new dog is really cute..it takes awhile for rescued animals to settle in, don't get discouraged...what did you name him?

Dani - our little mutt face is called Zoe - which is supposed to mean Life - she is a lively critter for sure. Doing well with being crated and adapting to us - still hates our cat and doesn't understand the need to stay near us - but adapting and is quite a lover - really likes being petted and talked to.
