Newsflash or Hotflash - take your choice

Newsflash it IS autumn in Texas - I love the oak trees turning red colors instead of our normal green to brown sequence.

The up close and personal of a rose leaf is because I'm still loving the macro - takes a lot of motivation for me to practice something and the macro - it is doing it for me. Look at those dewdrops - so perfect and crystalline.

I think we have a winner in the contest( voting rights limited to DH, Linda Sue and our guest consultant from Montana but your opinions are always welcome!) for colors of paint in master bathroom renovation - crisp celery come on down. Dark wood stain on ash (type of wood not burnt stuff) is for the bathtub apron (whatever is not not tub or tile) and double vanity to be built by my super skilled DH. Tile is - well it is the tile. Accent color will be aubergine (I love that word! It is fancy schmancy for dark but bright purpley).

Christmas decor planning and purchasing resulted in artificial greenery for two door sprays (artificial greenery is practical in Texas - real stuff costs a fortune and dries to flashpoint fire danger in a week). Going with cardinals and semi natural looking decorations (we actually have cardinals who are on Buhlaland but I cannot convince our feathered friends to pose for an entire holiday season -or even to stay still long enough to have a picture taken!) Yes I know the Santa Cowboy is a little corny but you should know my corn level can be quite high. Garden Ridge has their usual 50% off sale and Michael's had a lot of mark downs. I'll go back this weekend (Michael's not GR) for more cardinalishness and perhaps a strand of nifty bells for our over the fireplace wreath.

About the hot flash thing - not in years but I thought it might be comforting to younger women readers(and random fellows who check blogs) truly the passage of years will make it better ! It is fun this week on Buhlaland - even the idjit goats getting stuck (actually only the one - Violet - constantly getting her horns stuck in the fence wire) results in laughter not irritation.

Nothing deep here and that is another item to add to my List of incredible things for which I'm grateful to God about.
"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Oh, I think your Christmas decor is going to be just lovely. Cowboy! We're in Texas! A cowboy is never corny!

Hope the winds don't blow you away this weekend! (They are already terrible here!)

Brandi - it is blowing like crazy and if I weren't trying to do 2 weeks of cleaning in one afternoon I'd go out there and try to get pictures of the oak leaves swirling around like they are dancing. Thanks as always for stopping by -

I like celery green! With some purple... I am liking it!

Not that it matters because some people find me dangerous with colour, but... I love your color choices. In fact those are nearly the colors I chose for my bedroom redo next spring, slight variation in the green, a little deeper perhaps and a second accent of persimmon. Heavy on the accent of Aubergine, with such a name no one should be without some in their house just so they can say the word.

Have the best blustery day ever.

April - glad you like it! I'm not so daring as you but trying to get away from shades of tan. Lanny - well great minds think alike huh? Our bedroom is a khaki color right now - don't know what will happen colorwise in there once we do the addition. Lots will depend on finances but to Scarlett OHara it - I'll think about that tomorrow! Thanks for coming by!

Oh Linda Sue, you are too funny. The goats getting stuck would be a source of laughter for me, too, but I have a little hen and rooster that keeps digging up my mulch for my source of irritation. LOL
Can't wait to see the finished colors!!

I think your Christmas decor is perfect for a rural type Texas holiday home ! Also very much like the tile and wood colors you showed. So the tub won't be part of the Christmas decor ? It will be installed in time for you to be soaking in it during the holidays ?

And Amen , yes, be thankful in ALL things.....He has given us so much, and most importantly, Himself !Happy Sunday.

I love the Christmas decor and the colors you selected for the bathroom. Lovely.

Josh and I looked into the three children (Drake, Kennidi and Chandler) a while back. The boys are actually much older than it appears. The picture of them is deceptive and the information was written about them when they first went into foster care. The birth years are incorrect (often the case on the My Turn Now site). The boys are age 11 and 12. They are into setting fires and urinating on people. Josh and I don't think we can handle the fire-setting and particularly not at those ages.

We have a hard time saying no to some of the children but adoption is also about knowing what you can and can't handle. I know that I can't handle fire-setting and or animal abuse. If I hear either of those in the profile as habits of the children -- I run the other way.

Those two habits are indicators of much larger problems. We are not experienced parents yet. May be in a few years we'll be able to think about adopting children with those backgrounds.

Just not yet. But they are totally darling. We agree. Precious!

They all are. I wish we could save them all.

Love,
Lacy

lacy - thank you for your sweetly worded response - I jumped in there and suggested something before I got the full info (tactful - I'm so rarely accused of being tactful I had to check the spelling!) you and Josh are heroes for wanting siblings - you must find the right match and I'm sure those children are being prepared right now for you

Now, I would love to see a picture of those goats stuck in the fence! What a hoot!

Thanks for stopping by, Linda. You put that Cowboy out proudly, missy! Only in Texas can you do stuff like that and get away with it! Vickie

Oh, speaking of the antics of our furry friends -- our lab, Jake, has taken a fancy to emptying the kitchen trash all over the place. That's a lovely mess to clean up, let me tell you!
