What do you like?

Still having trouble finding my blog voice but I took this nice picture of my teakettle the other day and thought - what "thing" do the people who read my blog really like. You know something you have in your kitchen? Not something you wish for or dream about - we're talking in there now. I like my teakettle, it has a red handle (red is favorite color of mine), it whistles if I leave it unattended on a burner and it gets very hot (so I don't burn it up if I walk off and forget about it) and it is functional - if I put water in it, turn on the burner underneath it - every single time it makes hot water.

Not fancy schmancy or antique or collectible - a very ordinary teakettle I bought at Costco a year or two ago.

So what about you? What item in your kitchen at this moment now just plain pleases you ? Here in Buhlaland - a teakettle is enough to remind me - my life is very good.
I added this picture of a recent sunrise just to avoid being all about the stuff and the question - the Creator gives to us all many blessings we don't even notice. Like a teakettle huh?

I would have to say my cast(sp) iron pan! I just love that thing!

yes, I have to agree with Kelsey, my cast iron pan is something I use just about every day, always reliable, easy to clean, and never fails...

Well. . .here's number 3! First thing that came to mind was my little cast iron skillet! It's been here forever, and I just can't imagine ever making my cornbread in anything else. I never "put it away." It's always on top of my stove, waiting for me like an old friend.

Love the sunset, too. My favorite time of day -- watching sunsets. It always says to me that I should put away all of today's cares, let them go down with the sunset, and wait for a new sunrise and a new day to come with new strength!

Cora

PS: I need a tea kettle!

Yesterday at church our pastor told us to look at a sunrise and remember two things - there is a God and He is coming back. I also love the sunrises and sunsets, reminders that we are to rise, work and then rest. Seems that cast iron skillets are the indispensable tools for y'all. I just made a big pitcher of tea and my kettle was whistling like crazy - thanks for stopping by!

What a neat post, Linda Sue... it got me to thinking about all the wonderful things I love in my kitchen, too... I may just do a post on that!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Revere cookware my Momma bought for me before I got married, but I also love my KitchenAid stand mixer Hubby bought for me our first Christmas together. But there are so many more... I'll have to narrow it down and post about it!! Thanks for the great idea!

I like your little teakettle too! Anything with a red handle.

I believe my favorite thing is an green enamelware pot with a lid that sits on my stove always. I use it to make soap but just seeing it brings me back to a simpler time and reminds me to keep it simple.

Thanks for sharing.

Smiles,
Lea

I love my window. It is over my sink and has some type of little bush in front of it that blooms in the spring and has the sweetest fragrance. One of these days I will figure out what it is. But my window keeps out the cold in the winter and hot in the summer. It is always there where I can see what is going on in the outside world.

Brandi - me too except my window gets dirty from my splashing and making messes!
