Confirmation

Psalm 46:10 (The Message)
8-10 Attention, all! See the marvels of God!
He plants flowers and trees all over the earth,
Bans war from pole to pole,
breaks all the weapons across his knee.
"Step out of the traffic! Take a long,
loving look at me, your High God,
above politics, above everything."

Psalm 46: 10 (NIV 2011) He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

Every month or so the Hubby and I spend some time deciding what to do with our tithe ( we are not actively involved in a local church -we support God's glory in situations to which we feel led). Honestly it is a monthly struggle - so many worthy causes and our sharing of His money can't change the world - can it? We pray for confirmation in our choices - usually it is in a simple manner - we make decisions which we trust are exalting God, helping widows, orphans and the poor, coming alongside those in need. For this month's tithe (not a legalistic slot machine action on our part - God provides everything and we are honored to share a portion) X number of dollars were in account designated tithe and March 26th we received a message from Compassion International (see link on left side of blog page if you are interested) with Xnumber (precisely, exactly) listed as what was needed. If you are not a believer - this all sounds foolish

1 Corinthians 2:14 (Contemporary English Version)
14That's why only someone who has God's Spirit can understand spiritual blessings. Anyone who doesn't have God's Spirit thinks these blessings are foolish.

This blog post isn't about us - it is about us in relation to the Lord and that makes it ALL good on Buhlaland. Bless y'all - as we are blessed.

Sun Rise

I promise I didn't photoshop or adobeshop or stopnshop this picture - straight outta camera photo of sunrise this past week. Makes a person glad she dragged her entirely inordinately tired self out of bed and opened eyes to God's glory. I am not blogging much - sometimes not even leaving comments on the blogs I read. Must be in one of those learning seasons - where keeping my mouth shut (or keyboard quiet) benefits my brain and soul. Life continues a blessed and confusing path through Buhlaland - DH still doing too much and working hard (also known as standard operating procedure). I am still enjoying my part time job. Goats are growing up fast and I'm unwilling to get off the dime and sell some of them - too many right now for our pasture. Keep hoping some of the people we know and love will actually buy places in the country and we can place our goats with trustworthy people. Listening right now to iPod music playlist called Praise and Worship -- Amy Grant's older cd of hymns - loving the glory of voices, instruments and words.
Hope to do some cooking this weekend - meatloaf meal for DH's father's day. Staying cool by getting up before the sun and staying in shade or air conditioning as much as possible.
Things are good here on Buhlaland - especially when we rise up early in the morning

A Psalm of Thanksgiving

I'm sure the average person feels pretty great this time of year - barring a nasty cold, financial stresses, bad weather, unpleasant people in the malls or whatever obstacle they may think is in the way of their happiness. But those of us who Believe are a chosen people and commanded to give thanks in all things. Some seasons it is easier to be thankful . This December morning my gladness overflows,I realize how blessed I am. My home is safe and cozy with lights glittering on the porch, someone I love is inside the house. Sun is rising and begins to burn off a mist making the world smell fresh and new. When I walk out to the goat pens - the goats look up as if in welcome. It is good - and I'm giving thanks today - it is the right season every season to give thanks.

Psalm 100
A psalm of thanksgiving.

Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! Worship the Lord with gladness.

Come before him, singing with joy. Acknowledge that the Lord is God!

He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name.

For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.

What do you like?

Still having trouble finding my blog voice but I took this nice picture of my teakettle the other day and thought - what "thing" do the people who read my blog really like. You know something you have in your kitchen? Not something you wish for or dream about - we're talking in there now. I like my teakettle, it has a red handle (red is favorite color of mine), it whistles if I leave it unattended on a burner and it gets very hot (so I don't burn it up if I walk off and forget about it) and it is functional - if I put water in it, turn on the burner underneath it - every single time it makes hot water.

Not fancy schmancy or antique or collectible - a very ordinary teakettle I bought at Costco a year or two ago.

So what about you? What item in your kitchen at this moment now just plain pleases you ? Here in Buhlaland - a teakettle is enough to remind me - my life is very good.
I added this picture of a recent sunrise just to avoid being all about the stuff and the question - the Creator gives to us all many blessings we don't even notice. Like a teakettle huh?

the Lord has done this

Psalm 118:23 This is the Lord’s doing, and it is wonderful to see. 24 This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

If you've visited here before, you'll know I am still working through some challenges. Challenges haven't changed but as I pray and read and wait upon the Lord - I'm changing. A couple of days ago I took this picture. Sunrise - didn't have to be made with iridescent light, dozens of shades of blue and peach, light and dark but God does this every day - somebody sees the majesty of His creation. I felt better - my emotions were soothed, I felt - what's that ??- oh yes - Joy.

Later the same day - our tiny side pond had the first lily bloom of the season. It's good on Buhlaland in the spring and I'm learning - prayer doesn't have to change the situation to be answered.
