Authentic Compassion

Sunday, July 1, 2012

I've looked several times for this full length version of a poem/heart felt cry written by Mary Jean Irion who (at last result via google) lives near Lancaster Pennsylvania.  I'd read parts of it in a Joni Eareckson Tada book and wanted to share it with you.
I thank Ms. Irion for clearly wording at least a few of the wishes of those of us who go through major life change.

Personally - I'm  doing well enough - returned to church this morning for first time in several years.  Beloved friends (as we say in the south )carried me there and home.  I'm eating, trying to learn to sleep through the night (fireworks aren't helping with that task!)  doing masses of paperwork, learning to live without my primary role.
DH's service at Dallas National Cemetery was just right - I think he would have approved and it was just what I needed and not a single person or event I didn't want (well except the obvious - NOT to have to say a final farewell).  Thank you for expressing your support, prayers and comfort - and especially for those who have laughed with me.
Will see about coming back to blogging - still not there yet - but it is possible - in God all things are possible.
It is summer on Buhlaland - hot, dry and speeding past.

What a difference he made in my life - can't regret the hard things when I have had and continue to have so much - dang I miss him.  Y'all be good to yourselves and easy on one another - it is all much shorter than you think!  I promise if I come back to blogging - will be about critters and flowers and projects - until then -
Vaya Con Dios.

Hi Linda Sue. Learning to live your "new normal", as my husband and I say about those friends of ours who go though tough times. I pray you will find peace and comfort, hope and a continued zest for life. I hope you will come back to blogging and jump into those interests that you enjoy. I'm thankful for your friends that will be there in the flesh for you. God bless you my friend!

Linda Sue -

You have been on my mind. I cannot imagine the emptiness that you are feeling. Nothing much can fill that except time and God. God bless...I hope peace comes back swiftly.

Dear Linda Sue,
This is my first visit to your blog, and even though you don't know me, I feel called to respond to your pain and to your loss.
And so here is my prayer for you:

-May God give you the mental clarity and the energy to do all that must be done.

-May He grant you the ability to prioritize, sort, and itemize with clear thoughts and a clear conscience.

-May He give you deep and dreamless sleep so that the time you spend asleep is a safe haven for you as you rest in God's Palm.

-May your time of intense pain be short and your time wonderful memories be long.

-May He show you a way to mentally bridge what WAS, with what IS,...while helping you to look forward What WILL BE, one day in Heaven.

-May God lift the crippling ache that probably sneaks up on you at times when you least expect it.

-May you remember to Breathe.

-May you find comfort in your own Heartbeat.

-And may you find courage in the knowledge that God is in Control and is working on your behalf right now.

In Him,
Grace

I really loved those words from Ms. Irion, Linda Sue.. I remember when I was going through the illness and eventual death of my mother how I longed for a "normal day"...
I'm sure the service was wonderful and just what Skip would have wanted.
When (if) you return to blogging, I will be waiting; until then, I will be praying for you.

It was so good to see your comment today and to know you are keeping up with us, even though I know this is an extremely tough time for you. I'm so thankful for your friends and family and especially for your relationship with our Savior. Thanks for leaving your comment and isn't it interesting that they compare their experience to the battle for racial equality! Please stay in touch. Love in Christ, Deb

When the pearl bracelet broke, I stood very still, raised my face to the rain, my arms palm out and just let the rain wash me. I couldn't say thank you, curse, cry, plead...just let the rain wash me for a few seconds. I'm sure the folks in the market thought I had tipped past crazy.
Sometimes I think I have.
How do we go on, LindaSue?
How do we not go on, LindaSue?
What's our purpose now?
What's next?
I'm sure I don't know much other than you're tucked into prayer.
New normal...sucks mightily and I rebel against it.
