Goat Days of Summer

What is it like in North Texas during a normal August - well it is hot. Goats rely on us to keep the troughs filled with fresh clean water. Water is an incredible commodity - our bodies contain approximately 70% water, almost 70% of the earth's surface is covered by water, humans can survive approximately 7 days without drinking water and water is mentioned 722 times in the Bible.
Water and it's hydrating, cooling and blessing effects are a big deal any time of the year - for goats, humans and eternal life.
Y'all stay hydrated - quiet around Buhlaland this August and that is just the way we like it!

Yes, ma'am. Can't help but be quiet when the temps are soaring. I like your 'goat' take on the 'dog days of summer!' :) Stay cool!

The hot temperatures send me in search of water too. I don't think I am near as cute as your goat though. Good picture. Quiet and peaceful picture.

I'm staying well hydrated by my Shepherd's hand as well.

its been warm here too...got to constantly check on the critters to make sure they have water...

it takes fig trees a couple of years before they really start producing..make sure you water it well....we put a large 5 gallon bucket underneath ours with holes drilled at the bottom and water it that way..slow and deep watering....

Water is amazing and I quite litterally can't live without it! Are your goats long eared Nubian? The one in the picture looks like what I had as a child.

Last answered first here - yes Julia - our goats are mixed breed but most have a strong nubian strain. Our younger goats are more than half nubian because we had a pure bred nubie buck for a couple of years.
Dani - yes our chickens require plenty of fresh water to withstand the heat.
Lanny - yes ma'am that water of life is our salvation.
KathyB - you are pretty doggoned cute - especially with that handsome fella of yours!
Debbie - temps are soaring and no relief in sight - we had a mild summer last year so this isn't unfair - just meltingly hot!

Such an interesting post, thank you. The heat has bothered me, greatly, this summer; to an extent never before. The goats are so cute and love the photos.

Those are some impressive facts about water! We are a blessed nation - we have so much water we can build theme parks where the whole purpose is just to play in all the water!
