Yep - it is autumn

Tried to find some clever theme for blogging today - not feeling clever but have been reveling in the beauty of our little bit of Texas recently. We've had unusual rainfall for September and October - resulting in a November
of rare autumnal color. We often have brown and beige autumns - after a long dry summer the poor trees are just wanting to shed those leaves sucking the sap out of them and heal over the winter. This year - looks more like the trees want to hang onto their finery a while longer.
We haven't had a frost yet - cool nights and mid to high 70's in the days. Good it isn't like this all the time - we'd be over run with people moving to Texas! As it is - here on Buhlaland it is GOOD to be enjoying autumn - we're grateful.

Clever themes are sometimes hard to come by.

Sharing fall color with those of us that now have bare trees is a good thing.

I noticed today we have one large tree that still holds all of its color. It sits beside the pond. Says something for a lot of water?!

Have a great aftersoon!

Hi Linda - we're having lots of color, too, FINALLY. A nother week or two and it'll be full force. I love autumn. My favorite time of year (til spring gets here!) I am glad that it quit raining for awhile tho.

Pretty pictures! Thanks for sharing!

My leaves are lying all over my yard waiting to be raked into bags. It was nice while it lasted but I guess it's time to clean up the mess. Looks real pretty around your place; enjoy!

our fall and winter are as you describe every year for the most part...and yes, that's why there are so many people out here in southern California...my mom grew up in Northern Washington state and said she cried when she moved to San Diego back in the 50s...so relieved to get out of the cold....
we are lucky to get some fall color being inland....but your photos are prettier than anything we have right now.

So that is where autumn went.It left us a couple of weeks ago. I know you are enjoying the cooler weather and beautiful leaves. We wont tell a soul so you can have it to your selves. Enjoy.

Truly beautiful and you are so right. Ideal weather like that is rare just about everywhere. Good thing you did take a lot of pictures for the blog because now you have proof Texas does get a beautiful autumn every now and then!

Your trees are beautiful! We too are experiencing a very colorful fall, and today a windy one. I like how some autumn are just more intense than others. Bet and i were noticing that this year some trees that seemed to be in flame last year are more toned down but then many of the other that were toned down last year have really turned the dial up this year.

Fall is my favorite season! Isn't saying the word "autumnal" just make your mouth feel all groovy? Cozy and warm and colorful? Can't say springnal or summermal and get the same effect, or even say an actual word.

Mary - yes clever is sometimes quite elusive for me! We are just now peaking in color - each day I notice more leaves on the ground but no steady flurries of leaves falling yet. Vickie - this is really my favorite season in Texas - especially when we've had rain 'cause the colors are so pretty.
Debbie - we don't rake leaves - I'm of the live and let lie school - with rain they'll compost down nicely along the fence lines!
Dani - I lived in California as a child and then graduated from college in Arcata (up north) - we chose Texas for lots of reasons but fall color isn't always great - been a few years since we've had this much intensity.
Kelly or Alex - I lived in Vermont for a very long and cold 4 years - you need a different DNA than I have to love those winters but your weather IS beautiful in pictures! HA! thanks for keeping our secret
KathyB - looks like today may be the nicest nationwide (Saturday Nov. 7) --your area maybe a little rain but sunny and fabulous here agin.
Lanny - yep autumnal is a good word - although it sounds a little like rotund or some other very rounded word!
