Peace to You

Galatians 5: 22-26
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other

Peace is a topic I'm thinking about a lot lately - working on staying in the Spirit and not so much in the flesh. Even though we were supposed to have a hard frost last night - these Peace roses are still blooming this morning in our side garden. Although it isn't the hardiest or loveliest rose plant - I love the Peace rose. It's name evokes the calm a garden can bring. Fruit of the garden is like the fruit of the spirit - it must be cultivated, tended daily and kept with an eye on the future.
Life on Buhlaland is moving along - we are learning a new "normal" with occasional reminders our lives will never be the same as before. Before what? well in this statement I was referring to a serious health issue facing my husband but it can also be viewed in a spiritual way - our lives have never been the same as before we received salvation. It is very good on Buhlaland to stop and smell the Peace roses and appreciate the beauty of our created world -in constant awareness of the Creator.

Hope to post more often - hard as it is to believe - I've run out of words! Keep the peace rose in your hearts this holiday season - don't be frazzled and unhappy because you aren't Martha Stewart (remember she has a STAFF who actually do all that gardening and laundry!) be grateful for the people in your life - Bless y'all - it is good and rosey here on Buhlaland.

Your testimony is so encouraging. I love the rose; I planted one of those and it bloomed one season. Oh well; roses are not my thing, tho I love them. Continuing to enjoy your posts;
Debbie

The Peace rose is one of my favorites.

I find it to be so awesome how the word of God is spoken, how it is relayed, communicated, amongst His children. You said you were trying to stay in the spirit, not in the flesh. I needed that today.

Have a beautiful week!

Debbie - this rose plant never did well - I'd planted in honor of my dad who had been in the AF Strategic Air Command - their slogan was Peace is Our Profession - and every base we were on had a Peace Rose garden - the spring after my Dad passed away this plant was completely covered with huge blooms - I know it is mystical thinking to believe we get messages - but I think the Lord was letting me know Daddy was whole again.
Mary - glad to help - any time we speak scripture to one another it is good - I've learned that my own words are rarely all that effective but scripture reaches someone else on a different level.

Just wanted to say thanks for your comment on Boomama's blog last week (the one about Stephen Curtis Chapman's album). I really love that quote by Max Lucado. Would love to know where it's from... Like your Oswald Chambers quote too... I think I just read that same thing recently! And oh, do I need to remember and just DO what I already know!!! : ) anyway, thanks!

Funny you should mention Martha Stewart, I use her as my base-line for hospitality. She ranks zero on my "would I like to have coffee with her ?" list. I love to watch her shows and read her books, but I would never want to share a cup of coffee with her. However, there are many, many people with blogs and shows I would LOVE to have over to share a cuppa with! You are one of those Linda Sue. I cherish what you write and also your prayers.

WE share a common bond with Jesus, our Savior and thank-you for this post.

There always seems to be a new "normal" to learn, well least it seems that way up here.
And it often seems all tied together with that initial change in position eh? And then that continual growth pattern. Things just seem more vibrant and alive.

You know it is a good thing that we can roll around in the peace and fragrance He gives because just as I wrote that when in Him things just seem more vibrant and alive, I think that the pain and suffering of the world and those caught in it seem more agonizing to me now than they ever did before. It just seems peculiar doesn't it that peace and joy can dwell and burn in the same heart at the same time as the heavy burden for the pain and suffering of the world.

His Peace to you and your DH
