Pumpkins - no frost yet!

We are having a beauty of an autumn season - - local Farmer's Market is overflowing with huge blooming mum plants, every squash and 'punkins sized from teeny little table decor to monstrous huge pumpkinpaloozas!

I am watching my "disposable income" expenses (whoever came up with that term never tried to live within their means) so didn't buy a great number of things - did purchase one of the supersized chrysanthemums and had a moment's hesitation on how to get it home safely. You see the solution - carefully squeezed in passenger's side of the car! It is October - not seeing much of what is traditionally called fall color - but on Buhlaland - we see blue skies, stars at night and lots of deer - that is all good. Hope your autumn is terrific - to everything there is a season.

I'm like you; if we can't plant it, eat it, or wear it, I leave it. I love the large, lopsided pumpkins that look like they have warts! What variety, huh! Our pumpkins in this neighborhood have a history of mysteriously end up all over the street!

I love this season. Your photos are so pretty. I haven't purchased a potted mum or pumpkin yet. I am enjoying the clear, blue skies and cool mornings and evenings. Hope you will have a restful evening.

You are having a beautiful Autumn. Autumn here can be like yours, or rainy, or snowy, or all three plus a bit more variety thrown in. Either way, it is my favorite season.

I always love your sweet words about the things you are so thankful for there on Buhl-a-land!Where did you place the mums once you got them home?

I should have said - the huge mums were a "hostess" gift for neighbors - since I'm not baking much now I thought she would enjoy some bright fall color on their porch. Bought just the few small pumpkins and tiny dried Indian corn - which are still awaiting a good spot!

We haven't had frost yet either! Which I am glad for, my pumpkins are still working on their tan and because, as usual, I am horrifyingly behind on my fall chores. If Anna would quit calling maybe I could get something done (see, I can still blame my short comings on the baby). Your mum is just lovely, how nice to give it as a present. We are watching our expenses around here too, along with the wedding, Dirt has been given furlough days at work (our state seems to be a bit shy on money) Funny how easy it is for them to cut out those really important teacher-in-service days when they don't have much to spend but the administration just keeps getting bigger. Oh well, just somethin' more to chuckle and shake our heads over eh? I've started clipping coupons? What the heck, haven't done that for years! Not sure I will continue but oldest daughter is a pushy sort and has gotten everyone else (who can be pushed) to doing it as well.

Okay, I've blabbered enough I will let you get back to your lovely autumn!

Have an ever so wonderful day-week, hope to chat again soon here.

Oh, by the way "really important teacher-in-service days" was a snarky wise crack. I have always complained about how ridiculously wasteful those things were and never really helped the teacher but drove the teacher's wife nuts, cuz he could be home at the farm doin' stuff. Any way, thought I'd clear that up.

Pretty Autumn Photos, Linda Sue. I love the colors of fall, and your pumpkin shots are great!

I bought two big orange ones to put on my porch at the farm, and the crows have found them. Drat! They now have little holes in them and will rot alot sooner!

We've got a mum planted near the back porch and it's always so beautiful in the Autumn. Hope y'all are having a good weekend. We're muddling through.

Just thought I'd let you know that we're back in the goat business! Bet sold a bunch of her poultry, found a bred four year old doe on Craig's list, sweet talked her dad into driving an hour and a half down to get it. My girls amaze me. Not because they are willing to take on more work, like a dairy goat, but that they can talk their dad into just about anything! Hope your autumn is continuing to be just lovely, warm and cozy. You are oft on my mind, always in my heart and prayers.
