Coziness Rulz

We live in Texas because we don't mind hot weather - we very much love mild weather. DH and I like to wear shorts and sweatshirts in the fall and warm winter days. I don't own woolen sweaters or dresses - we buy cotton.
All those statements lead up to the unpleasant truth ---we don't like cold weather! Instead of gritching about our unseasonably cold weather--we have worked hard on being cozy, comfy, snuggly as a buggly in a ruggly (whoa - getting far too cutesy here). Ahem - I mean - we are appreciating the beauty of a wood fire, wonderful bright Christmas flowers, sunshine coming in our big windows and warming the couch for napping. All that rambling done with - I am posting because it is pleasantly warm in our office, dogs are wrestling on the rug, hubs is talking on his cell phone - it may be 36 degrees outside but Buhlaland is both inside and outside. Inside we are comfortably warm - enjoying a quiet day and knowing all is good on Buhlaland.
I promise to be back with a recipe or two - wouldn't be Christmas without cooking!

Linda Sue - please post us some recipes when you start your Christmas cookin'! I can't wait to start cookin', too, but I'd like to do something new and different!

Your home looks warm and cozy, Linda Sue. I love that fireplace. Austin limestone - my favorite. I'd like to have a ranch house made out of that stone.

Your place does look cozy ! I like the sound and picture in my mind you presented too...coziness, a word that just warms me all over.

The temps are in the single digits here tonight / today. I am up keeping the fire in the wood stove going.

Vickie - only trouble with Austin stone is the tendency to stain easily (spoken from experience!) but we do enjoy our fireplace. Dani - it isn't the most efficient way to warm our home but creates more charming atmosphere more than warm air from the furnace!
KathyB - I saw on national news the cold blast hitting your area - brrrr. Too soon for this it seems but time gets away from us quickly.
Have to figure out some things to make - then will put up recipes. About to back out on a tamale making endeavor with a friend - just too much work and for only the two of us doesn't seem worth it - great tamales from Central Market are almost as good!

Great post! That fire looks wonderful and warm (although the stocking on the left is making me nervous!). Our fireplace is for looks only. Some nights it would be so nice if it did work! I love sitting in front of my mom's!

We are cold west of you too, and the rain is just making it worse. But we need the moisture no matter how we get it!

Merry Christmas!

Brandi

Hey Brandi - that stocking was only "down" for the pictures - it is safely tucked up on the mantle when a fire is lit! We also have those glass doors for fireplace - had them open for pictures. I hear it is getting colder for y'all - brrr too soon!

Hey Linda Sue - the blue graniteware in the garden is absolute genius! Why didn't I think of that??? I'll start looking for something at my garage sales!

Sounds like you are just a cozy as can be. We got a good ice storm yesterday and as soon as it melted, we got 60mph winds with tons of dirt. The weather never stays the same, however, I am like you...I like mild weather. Not extreme cold, but also not extreme hot. Have a cozy week! blessings,Kathleen

Ooooh- look at your beautiful fireplace, Linda Sue! I'll bet that is so relaxing to sit in front of. Looking forward to another recipe!

I would think that just for the thought of being "cozy" that a little chill in the air would be a welcome thing. I love being cozy and cuddly.
