More mostly pictures

Sunshine and leafed out oak trees - definitely spring warm weather and pleasant changes around the countryside.

Lanny (Lantana) is showing her general disapproval of all the attention being given to newborn twins - she is a twin and believes she and Fanny (Fantana) are much cuter than those little brown things.

The doeling alongside her mother, has been named Amber - her brother is Jasper - both gemstones found in Texas and often shades of brown.

Each day we have to go out and find the babies - Pearl isn't being a very good mother this year and leaves them out in a pasture. They are so small almost anything could take them - a few turkey vultures check out our place every day.

One picture to show how small Amber is compared even to Jasper - she is about half his weight. Will start supplemental feedings for them soon - right now they are only interested in the all you can suckle milk bar their mom offers.

Birds and the Bees - no not that talk!

Cheating here - the bee picture was taken April, 2009 - no active bees yet but I needed at least one bee picture to do with the oh so innovative (or not)blog post title.







During a walk down to our front gate this morning with camera slung around my neck.
Saw these two little twitters hanging off an oak tree's bare branches - took several tries to catch a picture. Much jumping back and forth on branches and total unwillingness to stay still long enough for decent focus - one discovery about birds and bees - neither really gives a hoot (no owl pictures here) about cooperating with people.

















In a heavily budded up tree - two birds not of a feather were sitting together. Robin apparently didn't realize tree was already claimed so sat there for quite some time before moving along.

Took separate pictures just in case they both flew off at same time - but apparently me being on the other side of a fence and using zoom feature of camera didn't bother the birds as much as being close upset little ones. I'd be using species names - but other than the robin I haven't a clue. Like art appreciation - I may not understand the intricacies but I know what I like - and on a spring Sunday morning walk - I truly appreciate the variety and beauty our Creator made in our world.

Girl Talk

Probably the latter - all the goats were in their shelter literally basking in warmth from afternoon winter sunshine. Life is good when you are a goat on Buhalaland and often smiles for the people here also! All creatures great and small the Lord God made us all - and I'm SO glad He did.

Out of words plenty of pictures

I really don't have much to say - as of this evening we have 15 babies and a good possibility of 4 more. Six lively little girls and the rest wild and wooly boys. Watching them is a joy - new life and warm weather today made for great fun. DH named a pretty little doe born to our sweet Lucky Girl - her doe is now officially Lucy. All good mamas - I only have one rejected baby - a perfectly healthy little buck - first time mama so perhaps she'll be better next time. It is birthing season on Buhlaland and we love it.

On top o'the world

Our barn cat, Moe, has found a new favorite napping spot - oh I am corrected - Moe feels it is incorrect to call what he does napping. It is actually "casual vigilance" - ok so much for listening to a cat.
Before you dismiss his feat of being casually vigilant on top of a haybale - check out the smaller picture. Moe is a long way off the ground here!

Our temperatures today are reaching almost 80 degrees and we have a slight breeze - yep - just about perfect for casual vigilancing and anything else we can find to do outside. I love Texas - it is warm and I'm trying hard not to be lazy on Buhlaland today !












DH and I have started through the bible again - we read an organized plan through the entire scriptures each year. It may sound to some people like a huge job - going through the scriptures in 365 days (actually we add Sunday readings to Saturday since we go to early church on Sunday). Right now we are in the early chapters of Genesis - where Abraham and Lot left Haran . I was caught by the description of Abraham and Sarai lying about their relationship and being rewarded for this sinful behavior with huge material blessings. What's up with that? DH and I talked about it and my understanding was the Lord gives us examples to show how He loves us -all us lying, prideful humans. I'm sure there are theologians who have other explanations for many rascals being dear to God's heart. In my scripture interpretation it seems God draws to Him people who have messed up because we are so grateful for His mercies. No condemnation to those straight and narrow folks - wish I'd been one. I needed to hear Grace today - I've been quite down on myself for a long while now and needed a clear reminder. God made me, He knows how I'm going to turn out, knows how sorry I am for my sinfulness and loves me right here and right now. Grace is truly amazing .
